Individual Voting Membership - $200.00 (voting privileges)
Associate Membership - $100.00 (non-voting privileges)
A primary benefit of an ABFE membership is you and your organization will have a better understanding of the complex issues facing Black communities and form the strongest network of philanthropists, foundations and non-profits.
ABFE members gain greater knowledge, leadership skills, networks and decision-making power to serve as strong advocates for Black communities in the philanthropic sector. Your ABFE membership offers you:
- Access to professional development opportunities through conferences and webinars, on effective grantmaking strategies for Black communities and other communities of color;
- Connections to peers across the country through our interactive website designed to share effective strategies and lessons learned;
- Identification of others in your region who are interested in promoting responsive grantmaking in Black communities;
- Access to recent research and data that delves deeply into issues of disparity facing sub-segments of Black communities and other communities of color;
- Discount admission to ABFE events including our signature events at our Annual Meeting which takes place during the Council on Foundations Annual Conference;
- Access to the best practices and experts in the field for supporting inclusive and diverse leadership in philanthropy as well as equitable grantmaking;
- Editorial privileges through ABFE Guest Columnist – a web-based opportunity for our members to highlight issues, strategies and trends and reach a wide audience of grantmakers and practitioners in the field of philanthropy;
- Voting privileges at ABFE's Annual Meeting and on other organizational matters that has an impact on ABFE’s direction and ultimately an impact on Black communities. (Individual Members Only); and,
- Nominating privileges to the ABFE Board of Directors. (Individual Members Only).
ABFE Membership Eligibility
Private, public, community, family and corporate grantmaking institutions as well as other institutions and corporations participating as grantors and investors in Black communities are eligible to join as Institutional Supporters.
Individuals who are staff or trustees of grantmaking institutions are eligible to join as Individual Members (voting privileges).
Individuals who are practitioners, consultants, representatives of non-profits and organizations that are serving Black communities are eligible to join as Associate Members (non-voting privileges)

Individual and Institutional Members
Institutional Supporters:
- Are invited to appoint members of their staff and board as voting members;
- Will receive assistance from ABFE with the identification and development of a team of staff to transform your organization's practice;
- Use of our website to post employment opportunities within your Institution at NO CHARGE;
- Access to our network of funders interested in issues and ideas that impact Black communities.
Individual Members:
- Voting privileges for action items at ABFE's Annual Meeting and on other organizational matters that come before the ABFE membership
- Nominating privileges to the ABFE Board
How Your Membership Fees Work
- Investment in building the next generation of Blacks in philanthropy through our Connecting Leaders Fellowship Program
- Recognition of excellence in the field through the James A. Joseph Lecture Series and Award Ceremony that includes the annual Emerging Leader in Philanthropy and Institutional Award in Philanthropy.
- Communicating to membership, policy makers and the overall philanthropic community our issue-based Learning Communities and Working Groups as well as the dissemination of our Issue Briefs and sponsored research on philanthropy and the Black community.

Institutional Supporters
ABFE Institutional Supporters include organizations that have made a public commitment to affiliate with ABFE and its mission. The organization designates a point of contact for the membership.
Individual Memberships - $200.00 (voting privileges)
Voting members are staff and trustees of grantmaking institutions.
Associate Membership - $100.00 (non-voting privileges)
Associate members include practitioners, representatives of non-profits and organizations that are serving Black communities..
