Vice President, External Affairs
Tahira Christmon is the Vice President of External Affairs at ABFE- A Philanthropic Partnership for Black Communities. Charged with advancing ABFE’s mission and brand, she leads the organization’s development, membership, partnerships, and communications priorities. Before joining ABFE, Christmon was the director of membership for the Council on Foundations. There, she was instrumental in the design and strategic direction of all membership and engagement initiatives. She also led in the development of the organization’s new strategy, implemented the Council’s new membership model, and relaunched their online peer-to-peer platform. Prior to the joining the Council, Christmon served in various membership, communications, and cause marketing roles at Goodwill Industries International.
Christmon serves as an EPIP DC steering committee member and is the treasurer for her local Mocha Mom chapter. She received her master’s degree in public affairs from the University of Maryland College Park and her bachelor’s degree in journalism and Spanish from Syracuse University. When she is not working, she is running around with her two active young sons, finding moments of quiet escape with husband, or digging into a podcast or audiobook.
