Black Migrant Organizing to Protect our Democracy
Join ABFE and the Black Migrant Power Fund on Monday, October 7th, from 2:00 - 3:30 pm EDT for "Black Migrant Organizing to Protect Our Democracy."
Listen and engage with Black migrant leaders and organizations at the forefront of building power and leading mass movements to safeguard our democracy. Don’t miss this powerful conversation on the critical role of Black migrant communities in shaping our collective future.
In the face of life and death circumstances, Black migrant organizations are meeting urgent community needs and leading the way to advance pivotal movement victories. From successfully transforming immigration policy on the federal level to advocating for sanctuary cities and states, the Black migrant sector continues to punch above their weight class. In the US, 1 in 5 Black people is an immigrant, with the Black migrant population expected to grow by 90% between now and 2060. It’s not just that numbers are growing. Black migrants are the keystone of any progressive coalition. In key states like FL, PA, GA, and TX, which are battlegrounds on a variety of issues from migrant justice to reproductive justice to LGBTQ justice, why should building Black migrant power be a critical part of our strategy for building a progressive majority? How are we building progressive super majorities that include and engage more Black migrants communities?
