Purpose
To form a network of donors, foundations and non-profits dedicated to engaging in effective and responsive philanthropy in Black communities and to equip the member network with the tools and information to address the complex issues facing Black communities. ABFE members gain greater knowledge, leadership skills, networks and decision-making power to serve as strong advocates for Black communities.
Eligibility
Philanthropic Institutional membership is open to grantmaking entities, including: private foundations, community foundations, corporate giving programs, United Way organizations, donor advised funds, individual doners and giving circles. Benefits are available for current staff, trustees, or donors (up to 7 representatives).
Philanthropic Individual membership is open to individuals affiliated as staff, trustees or donors with grantmaking entities, including: private foundations, community foundations, corporate giving programs, United Way organizations, donor advised funds and giving circles.

Annual Fees
Annual fees for membership in the Philanthropic category are either for an individual or for an institution based on endowment size or operating budget using the following scale:

$2,500 | endowment less than $150M or operating budget less than $7.5M |
$5,000 | endowment of $150M to $499M or operating budget of $7.5M to $24.9M |
$10,000 | endowment of $500M and above or operating budget of $25M and above |
$200 | Individual |
